EBC and the Foundation for Slum Child Care Bring Smiles to Klong Toey’s Children

In the heart of Bangkok’s largest slum community, one act of kindness can mean everything. On 28 June 2025, EBC Financial Group committed its efforts to making that difference by delivering essential goods and warm meals to the Foundation for Slum Child Care (Baan Som Wai) in Klong Toey. This outreach forms part of our broader mission to uplift communities and create long-term, positive impact beyond the trading world. Understanding Life in Klong Toey Klong Toey is home to nearly 1.5 million residents, making up almost 30% of the city’s population. Many of these families live in extreme poverty, grappling with social instability, addiction, and limited access to reliable childcare. The Foundation for Slum Child Care, founded more than four decades ago, stands as a vital support system for infants and toddlers aged 3 months to 5 years in this challenging environment. Essential Supplies That Go Beyond the Basics To ease the Foundation’s daily needs, our Thailand team delivered a meaningful selection of necessities: eggs, fresh fruit, ATK test kits, soy sauce, cooking seasonings, tissue paper, and alcohol sanitiser. In addition, EBC provided monetary support to fund dinner for over 55 children under the Foundation’s care. Every item was chosen with the wellbeing of the children in mind, ensuring nutrition, hygiene, and a little joy along the way. A Warm Thank-You from the Caregivers Our gesture was warmly received by Arisa Wongcharoenyong, Head Caregiver at the Infant Care Centre. She also shared that the Foundation had just marked a major milestone—its 44th anniversary on 22 June 2025—making the timing of EBC’s visit all the more special. “In a world that feels complex and challenging, the Foundation for Slum Child Care remains a warm and safe second home for the children. On behalf of the Foundation, I sincerely thank EBC Financial Group for bringing love and easing our burdens. This support is not only about the supplies, but also a great encouragement for the children and our entire team. I wish all EBC employees good health and much happiness,” said Arisa. For many of these children, it is the only safe space they know—one that provides physical protection, emotional care, and developmental support.
